Physical characteristics
The Vizsla is a medium-sized, well-balanced sporting dog whose appearance should always reflect its purpose. Elegance should never come at the expense of functionality, and every aspect of its construction contributes to efficient, effortless movement over long working days.
Size: Males stand between 58-64 cm, while females are slightly smaller, measuring 54-60 cm.
Coat: The short, dense coat is a distinctive shade of golden rust. Its lack of an undercoat contributes to the breed’s refined appearance but also means Vizslas are less suited to prolonged exposure to cold weather.
Eyes and Ears: The eyes are brown, expressive, and harmonious with the coat color. Ears are set high, thin, and slightly rounded at the tips.
Tail: A well-muscled tail, typically not docked unless required by local regulations, carried in a natural position when in motion.
