We are Ruben and Lindsay de Villiers. Ruben, a true South African, grew up surrounded by Ridgebacks, Miniature Pinschers, and Boston Terriers. I, on the other hand, was raised with terrier mixes and companion dogs. In 2022, we decided to bring a puppy into our lives. We spent considerable time researching different breeds and kennels, determined to find a dog that would complement both of our personalities. As an ex-professional rugby player, Ruben thrives on activity, and with my background in martial arts, I share that love for an active lifestyle. That’s how our puppy Jazz came into our lives in the spring of 2023. She introduced us to hunting training and dog shows. Of course, she’s our family dog first and goes everywhere with us. She joined us on our first road trip through Germany and Austria. We love going on adventures and creating new memories with Jazz.
During the spring of 2024, we came across an exceptionally special litter from Hungary that immediately caught our attention. This led us to our second Vizsla, Amazon of Skyrocket. Amazon turned out to be an extraordinary pup. She is now starting her junior career, which we are very excited about. We are incredibly proud of her and look forward to reaching new heights together in the world of shows and training.
Inspired by our two beloved girls, we officially registered our Vizsla kennel under the name Descent of Elysium—and we’re thrilled to say it was approved! Our name holds deep meaning for us. “Descent” symbolizes the lineage and heritage that shape our dogs, passing down qualities of strength, loyalty, and grace. “Elysium” refers to a place of perfect happiness in Greek mythology—an idyllic paradise where the best of the best reside. Together, Descent of Elysium represents the legacy of exceptional dogs we strive to nurture, bred with love and care, destined for their own paradise of health, joy, and companionship.
